Sex with Ghosts

Michael Espinoza

Opening Reception and Book Release Party: June 27th, 12-4pm

Sex with Ghosts” is  a collection of photographic works exploring grief through the lens of sad, horny, queer ghosts. This experimental preview exhibition is in advance of the full solo presentation scheduled for November 2026 at Souvenir in Portland, Oregon.

The preview here at HIDE & SEEK is full of surprises and opportunities to discover new work in a special location.

‘Instant Gratification’ is a collection of 68 images of instant photography and embroidery work from the last 4 years. The new publication will be available for purchase and if you have already ordered a copy they will be available for pickup at the opening. They are also available for purchase through the artist's website.

  • Michael Espinoza (they/them) is a non-binary, multi-racial, multi-disciplinary artist whose work embodies & embraces the undone artistic practices of Queer Ancestors lost to persecution, disease, fatal sadness, & closets. Currently, their practice borrows strategies from embroidery, quilting, digital media, sculpture & photography to explore sex & sexuality, intersectional identities, intimacy, the body, & contact with the dead.
